After graduating with distinction from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb., Joseph L. Edmonds, Jr. earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kan. His medical education continued with a general surgery internship at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City and an otolaryngology residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Edmonds was also awarded a two-year fellowship to study pediatric otolaryngology at the Children's Hospital of San Diego. He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and licensed to practice in the states of Texas, Kansas and California.

Dr. Edmonds serves as a clinical assistant professor for the Baylor College of Medicine for both the Department of Pediatric Surgery and the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Communicative Sciences. His hospital affiliations include Texas Children's Hospital, The Methodist Hospital, Harris County Hospital District, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, Christus St. Joseph Hospital, Columbia Woman's Hospital, Memorial Hermann Hospital and Doctors' Surgical Center.

In addition to numerous presentations, publications and awards, Dr. Edmonds is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons. His professional memberships also include the Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Houston Pediatric Society, Houston Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgeons, American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngologists and American Cleft Palate - Craniofacial Association.

He is involved in several ongoing research projects, including non-surgical treatment of vascular malformations in infants and children, and treatment of chronic otitis media. Dr. Edmonds takes an active interest in community health issues and supports a medical mission program for physicians in Nepal.
